An update from Archie’s Cardiologist - June 2024
“The AliveCor monitors are in very wide use and have made a significant improvement to our ability to diagnose and monitor children with rhythm disturbances. The fact that we have so many available means that there is now no waiting list: in the past our patients would inevitably wait days or weeks before a unit was available. The current technology means that information can be acquired and transmitted immediately via the app instead of having recording devices physically returned and then analysed.”
Dr Steve Cooper
“There is no doubt that this has improved the quality of care we can offer for our heart kids. You guys should be justifiably proud of contributing to that and we are so grateful to have this ongoing relationship with your family.”
New Technology
Kardia (made by AliveCor) is a very small, mobile ECG unit, approximately the size of a credit card. It displays personal heart data on a mobile phone app. The device is also linked to the patience’s cardiologist which allows the information to be viewed and acted on if required. The system enables the heart kids and/or their families, to monitor their own heart health when concerns arise anytime, anywhere.
The device chosen by the Cardiologists at Sydney Children’s Hospital, is the KardiaMobile 6L. This device claims to be the most clinically validated personal ECG in the world.
First-and-only FDA-cleared 6-lead personal ECG
Detects Atrial Fibrillation, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, and Normal Sinus Rhythm
Increased ability to identify cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial flutter, heart block and PVCs
Select single or 6-lead ECG, depending on patients' unique remote monitoring needs
We believe that by more Heart kids like Arch having access to one of these devices, it will save lives.
